i dont see any leaf damage... i am confused.. more so than normal ...

Definitely looks like a salix. maybe salix fragilis? leaves look too wide to be salix caprea. Most likely not a shrub.

Unknown willows are identified using details of the foliage, flowers and fruits.

Thanks for the information everyone. I will have to wait to see if I can get photos when flowering. Sorry to disappoint you Ken. I didn't take the photos to display the damage, I took them to show leaf details. FWIW, the beetles have eaten most of the small, newer leaves from the end of the upper branches but have done very little damage to the more mature leaves. I can see some of this in the 3rd pic. Prior to taking these pics I removed 7 pairs of japanese beetles presumably mating.
