Wall paper help

Sending picture again. Can not pull wall paper down please suggestions. Can I paint. Room from my adult daughters (24 and 29 yrs. old. One room is brighter and smaller

Why can't you take the wallpaper off? If you paint over it it will really be awful to take off. Trust me I've had to do that in the past. Painting over the wallpaper is easy enough to do and does't require any prep. But, I would take it off. Rent a steamer they work great or you can buy a wallpaper scorer and after scoring the paper use a mixture of warm water and vinegar to soak the paper with then just use wallpaper scraper to scrape it off. It requires a bit of elbow grease but in the long run it is so worth it. Just be careful not to nick the wall but, if you do just use a little spackle.

If the wallpaper is just paper and not coated, a scorer won't be necessary. Scorers are very tricky to use and not done properly you can pierce the drywall and the water will soak into your wallboard and create raised bubbles when you paint and a multitude of other problems including the need for an entire skim coat. I found this out the hard way!

DO NOT paint over wallpaper. Use a scorer and be patient and let the remover do the work. I have taken many impossible wallpapers down. PATIENCE, PATIENCE PATIENCE. You and your daughters will be happier in the long run just in case you want to change the color someday.

I am stripping wallpaper in a bathroom as we speak but I am working over plaster wall which may make it easier. I spray warm soapy water after scoring with a putty knife and that works pretty well. I have three coats to remove.

Can I put paintable wall paper on top of the wall paper the one the room have ?

I believe you can but you make it much harder to remove those layers in the future. Right now my job is harder because previous owners put wallpaper over paint over three or more layers of paper. At some point the paper fails and starts peeling at edges. Very yucky then.

I agree with tennisanyone. I have painted wallpaper but it makes it much harder to change later. Stripping wallpaper is not that difficult a job - just messy. Follow your local paint store's instructions and you will be happy you did.

I'm in the midst of removing wallpaper in a bathroom after living with a inept wallpaper job for years. (I did the inept - had tried to wallpaper after many years break) I'm using the commercial spray and the scorer tool. Some of the paper just peels off easily - I'm doing small patches at a time. I do recommend this altho my folks painted over wallpaper in their house - because the underlying plaster walls were not in good shape.

Yes, definitely don't paint over it. Have it removed. This should have been a considered cost when you bought and negotiated your price for your home.

If I take the wall paper, what color should I paint, one room is small and bright and the 2nd room is bigger and not bright at all, is in the north side of the house. Those room are for my adult daughters when they come and visit. (23-29 yrs. old)

pale yellow or cream or white to brighten up a room - a favorite color or pick something from the bedspreads for the smaller but brighter room.

If you are north facing, the light on yellow can make the colour seem not right (many complaints occur on Houzz with that problem). Best colours for north facing rooms that have light can be a warm grey (think of Gustavian grey); warm pink (Farrow & Ball Calamine Lotion) or a bold tangerine or red will bring in warmth but you will need add artificial light to add what the dark colour takes away.

Our home had three different layers of wallpaper. It was a difficult to remove those layers. The last wallpaper was removed from the bathroom's ceiling. The bathroom looks taller now and clean, we are happy with the result.
