I would add both a rug and a coffee table; large, square and preferably with a shelf, and possibly a small rocking chair beside the hearth to add charm.

A couple of throw pillows, and a colorful comforter or two, complimentary to your rug would add warmth & personality as well.

Looks a little lifeless and uninspired. It definitely needs a rug. Id also suggest a coffee table. if you have the budget, some mid centrury style chairs would also look really nice in your space. Finally, a few accessories to give it your personality such as throws, pillows, and fun tchotchkes

rugs are difficult bc they have to capture your style...but definitely have fun them :) but think with your space, keep it light and have a little black to pull away from your sofa. Pattern and color can be anything from there really

I think a cowhide rug would be a nice modern touch with that sofa and a glass coffee table. I ended up using several of these pics as inspiration and contacted the rug company. They custom made me a rug (last pic of the group-teal) very quickly and economically. I love it. You could do either color or grey tones and add the color with pillows.
