Yes, the former living room to the house is being used as an office. We put in a cherry laminate a couple of years ago when we pulled up the rug. Thanks!

I like the current floors

Just curious - why did you choose the cherry laminate? I love your original floor colour.

I would do a darker stain than what you currently have ... more toward the chocolate brown family. I would not do a cherry stain. I would remove that cherry laminate and carry the darker wood color throughout.

Because at the time, we couldn't afford real wood, the rug was old and gross, and we couldn't find a laminate that matched the rest of the hardwood. We thought the cherry matched the decor in the office the best.

Can't remove the cherry laminate due to budget.

I think it would be better to leave the original floors - they really are beautiful - rather than matching the laminate.

I have to have them redone since the contractor's taped painters tape to the floor and it left marks. Would you go with the exact golden oak color that is on there now? Is there a rule of thumb for color of floor to type of furniture? I want a richer warmer look to the floors.

I like them as they are, not crazy about the office floor so would not worry about matching that but would look to change it when budget allows, but I am confused about painter's tape ruining the finish at all, let alone to the extent that the entire floor must be redone?

I love these floors so much. I think def will go in my next home. Ebony stain glossy. Not sure how functional glossy will be since of scratching will be seen. But this is a beautiful floor. This actually is Khloe Kardashian kitchen and her designer is a famous designer.. Martyn Lawrence Bullard. The only thing is showing every mark in this high gloss. But I saw ebony matte Which was still beautiful.

Painters tape left mark/pulled up finish when contractor removed it, so they're refinishing floor at no charge to us. See photo

I would just have them sand and put a clear coat on top.
