Front door installation

They installed our new front door yesterday. They haven't painted or trimmed yet but I think it looks set back too far. Are there guidelines for how recessed it should be?

I'm no door expert, but it appears that the installation is correct. If the white vertical elements were the same color as the door, I don't think you'd notice them.

The hinges have to be flush with the interior wall or it won't open all the way.

It doesn't look right with your existing trim, etc. That's the problem.

How can I get it to look right? Does it need to be re-installed? Totally at a loss!

Is the face of the door flush with the interior? If so it is a correct insulation. You have a brick veneer meaning the walls are likely 9" think. Typically brick houses don't have trim on top of the brick.

What did you replace? Did you make the opening larger? Do they need those posts for structure? They are what look out of place.

The uprights dividing the sidelights from the door are the issue. Typically the sidelights are part of the door assembly and the vertical separations are only slightly in front of the door itself.

Exactly, perfectly normal installation.
