I have been agonizing over my bathroom cabinet choice for far too long. I have shaker cabinets in the kitchen. Brown stained alder perimeter cabinets with a black wash and solid black island and hutch in dining room. Standard shaker with very squared corners. Taj Mahal countertops.

I really like the modern veneer panel doors and also like walnut, but think that might be too busy for the bathrooms. The house is contemporary looking from outside, but I don't want an overly modern house. I want transitional as our fireplace will be rock and we live in the mountains year round. True modern is too "cold" for me, but I like some contemporary stuff - lighting, etc.

The master bath has a long vanity which will have a tower on each side, then we have 3 more bathrooms and a powder. The laundry will have white cabinets in either a painted alder shaker or a flat panel veneer that has a grain look to it. Is it too busy to do walnut veneer or some other veneer in the bathrooms? Should I stick with shaker style? I am worried walnut shaker will have too much variety in color. I have 2 kids and a dog - is veneer too "touchy" for kids bathrooms and laundry? Thank you!!
