Bare Spot in front of house and need sprucing up

Between the garage and front window is this 10-12 foot section of siding that looks so plain. What can I do? There is a small strip of dirt to plant but is only 14" wide. Also thinking of getting a dark wooden door to break up the monotony. Any design ideas are welcomed. Just not happy with the plainness of the house right now. We are changing the color of the roof but not until next summer ):

Perhaps you can place some potted greens in that section. 10 x 12 sounds like a decent space to fill up with plants. In the section that is 14 inches wide you can plant something there that will go nicely with the rest of the greens. If you get a picture up, I would be able to perhaps offer a better suggestion!
