What about paint of soft white color?

Sorry I might not understand - are you wanting to change the horizontal piece that from here does seem orange-ish? Maybe a nice slate tone. Maybe a cement treatment.

Seems you could change the mantel/hearth and not change baseboards.

I would paint everything white.....I am really loving the all white and neutral living spaces so fresh and beautiful! Would look amazing with the floors.

In this case I'd say all white is the way to go. If there is already paint on the stone it doesn't make sense to work with it and everyone is right. White will look great in that space. Just make sure to edit the ceiling fan.
