I think I am in the minority in the group in saying the Tide Simply Clean and Fresh is, to me, the best smelling detergent being made and sold today. I simply love it, pardon the pun. It does very much lack in its stain removal but that is easily remedy by adding a Tide Rescue Pod.

I will keep my eyes out for this as I am super excited to try it!

I'll stick with Tide Free & Gentle, I like unscented.

I smelled this Refreshing Breeze scent. Smells good and clean. I believe it is the same scent that a version of Era had way back and they stopped making it. I just can't remember the name of the Era.

Well.. that's different. I wonder how similar that is, to the real Tide Original at this point. :)

There's one scent of Tide Simply (which I don't know on the top of my head right now) that really bothers me, while another is very passable.

Due to the way the regular (non-oxi) is formulated, it actually performs well in extremely high temperatures, and high PH washes for Commercial Users. It's a perfect blend of Surfactant & Bluing.. and there's no Enzymes to instantly die off from the temperatures. So.. some commercial laundries were using it, in large volumes over ECOLAB stuff. I just wonder if they will phase out the regular Tide Simply Bottle? :)

Ya I tried one of the reg. Tide simply awhile back, can't remember the scent name but hubs has it in the garage..I hated the scent, but in really hot water with STPP it cleaned very well.

Don't you just love when they label a detergent *With Oxi* and there's no Oxi in it.

I also wondered if these original Simply detergents were the old Tide original formulas with scent change.

I like the green scent. (Daybreak fresh?) It would be a good detergent with enzymes and no OBAs.

Mitch, what sort of commercial laundries have you seen using Tide Simply Clean? My interest is piqued... Hotels, dry cleaners for shirt laundry?

@Andrew, while I wouldn't know if your local dry cleaner is at it. But... I do know that a few commercial laundry processors (who do a lot of work for hotel chains who outsource) are using it instead of their regular commercial line detergent. In a lot of cases, it's actually cheaper & more effective because of the bluing effect it has, compared to a proprietary "Rinse Aid" (Bluing Agent) they sometimes use for special clients. SPG Hotels & Hilton Properties comes in mind ;)

Commercial Laundry kinda goes like this.

Super-Heavy-Alki (at really high temperatures, we're talking boiling) ---> (Suds) Commercial Detergent with sometimes "boosters" (It's Lye or Sodium Hydroxide) ----> Chlorine Bleach ----> Laundry Sour/Rinse ----> Dryer.

The Alki Wash (We're talking very high PH, skin burning) lasts about 7-9 Minutes, Followed by another 7-8 Minute "Suds" Wash, and then 6 minutes of Bleach, and 5 minutes of Sour (which is effectively Softener). And keep in mind, this can be as little as 50 Pounds of Linens to as much as 150... way bigger capacity, and much higher water levels ;)

One thing is if you ever actually acquire Hotel Linens, and wash them repeatedly.. you'll notice that suds will ooze out forever. While they may feel soft, the Sour doesn't actually get rid of the detergent residue. In one case, I ran the same six towels through a 15-Gallon Top Loader Machine (rinse & spin)... not once, but 12 times before the water became clear!!!! I'm not even exaggerating.

They simply don't have time and don't use enzymes. Sometimes the sorters, will grab certain garments that are special cases (Blood) and place them in another bin to soak, but almost everything goes through the same, process. And the process works.

I also want to point out.. these machines are made for these kind of washes. Our home machines aren't designed for high-ph and alkaline conditions, and any machine, would eventually corrode from the damage caused by these detergents. A industrial machine on the other hand would obviously be able to handle it.

I will admit though.. I've used some Ecolab Stuff at home ;). Especially like their Tri-Star Softener & Sours. And of course, you know you're officially a freak when you can tell what detergent a Hotel's linens have been processed with, just by the hint of smell ;) lmao.

An update on enzymes:

The optimal temperature for enzymes is 98F(37C), yes they work below that temperature but above 117F(47C) they start to get destroyed. Enzymes were originally taken from human intestinal tracts so it makes sense that 98F is the optimal temperature.

Most enzymes become completely inactive at 140F. But only tske about 20 minutes to do their job so if your running a super hot load by the time the heater gets the temp up there the enzymes already did what they need to do.

I had a $2 off coupon for Tide, so yesterday I ran to Dollar General and bought a bottle of Tide Simply odor rescue. I'm a powder user but figured what the heck. I found it to be very sudsy and I used less than a 1/4 cup. Also the fragrance is super strong and sickening. The smell was so strong that my SQ still reeked this morning when I opened the lid!
