love the orchid

the next two pics show other options but I keep coming back to the one with the tufted back..
but confused on which two colors will mix. which shade of blue looks good with say pink or green?

I like the coral too, but am not sure of which blue to choose. I like all of them!! hoping to buy one which mixes with the coral...

can any experts help me choose 2 color combinations:
frost blue with sea green , or dark blue with orchid?
sea green with the pinkish orchid?
sea green and orchid, or
sea green and light pink?

Hi when I look at your photo I see warm undertones in your countertop & just wonder if you will be happy with the pink/blue stools in situ. Perhaps seeing them in context might help - see pic 1 below. Alternatively 2nd pic a bright range of colours that have a different & warmer undertone that work. Of course white or cream is super safe. Sometimes a visual helps with the decision making

I would go with the sea green, that gives you a red-violet with a blue-green, which is a good pairing. I feel these are a good compliment to the gold tone that I am seeing in your granite.

I think more importantly, what colors are you using in the rest of our house or at minimum, what colors are being used in adjacent rooms and rooms within line of site? I'd pick colors that either coordinate with colors in other rooms / areas within line of site OR at least enhance each other.

Then look closely at your granite - if you are keeping it. Get some fabric or paint swatches and play with the colors in your granite to see which colors in there you want to enhance, tone DOWN or bring OUT.

It really kind of depends on what colors you want to add to your kitchen. For example, you will want to add some accessories to pull in these colors and possibly a rug as well, the idea being to tie in the colors at various levels. So, considering just the adjustable stools, two reds with the light green might be fun, or two plums with the green.

i have light aqua blue pillows against a grey couch and cream biege couch. i have a deep red and blue rug. looking for more colorsin kitchen but not too. ontrasting with granite. as the kitchen is white, i feel adding blue green with orange/purple/orchid will look good without contrasting too much with rest of furtniture. as i like blues and pinks/burgundy or purples, that's why Im searching for those shades.

Having had fabric seats on my island stools, I would highly suggest staying away from a fully upholstered chair. If you want comfort, just add cushions that you can throw in the wash or made of Sunbrella, so you can wipe off.

are there any adjustable height ones which dont look too shiny? but have some color to them. love those blue chairs!! all the upholstered ones are fixed height and I'm worried about the right height - mine is counter height

If you Google counter height stools or adjustable stools you may see lots of ideas and consider metal or cross back styles. Turquoise chair below is cute and really well priced at $52 and is counter height - Bixchair.com. White one which could be found anywhere could be painted or left as is. If you want to tie the room together with color, just add a roman blind and small rug.

If go with what tones you want to bring out. The blues? Red? A poster just reminded me what I decided on as well...I fell in love with upholstered bar height chairs then decided against them because I've got kids. As they tried to maneuver off the stool after eating, I didnt want to be upset that they got the chairs dirty. Nothing worse than seeing something pretty with permanent stains all over them. It'll stand out like a sore thumb. I picked out wipeable chairs and after deciding what color and pattern I want to use, I'll add washable chair covers & pads. (I'll have them custom made to fit over chair pads that I can zipper off and wash or dry clean. Not exactly the look I want but it'll stay clean looking.

this is the adjacent living room, still in progress and we may get a different or bigger rug (&couch). not immediately though. and have sort of finalized the wooden blue chairs in the photo with the 3 chairs. but I found deal on the double x shaped chair with sage green so will be trying that first. let me know if this seems like a good idea or not. i will buy more pillows and probably get rid of rug to color match with living room

will any of these work together. some have different base finishes (cherry and cream white), some are solid bases and some have just one color. also the height is about an inch different.
i am still thining about the blue color but dont want only one style. i may paint those cream white chairs antique blue but still not sure if they will tie together well. finalizing, please help

Especially like the first two wooden chairs (in my latest edit with pictures), but the styles are quite different, even the footrest has more style in the first one and the antique blue is different. Will a set of four with two whites and two antique blue work?

Or will a set of four whites with the brown base work?

they come in a set of 2 each and I have space for 4.

I wanted a light and bright style atleast in the kitchen beachy, cottage style but with pops of that blueish green. Will adding blueish pillows to the white work? I am trying to see if the white/wood and the blue-green stools will work together as a set of four? Especially like the first two, but the styles are quite different, even the footrest has more style in the first one and the antique blue is different.

Or should I go for a set of 4 with white/brown base and add pillows with colors I like? Or a set of 4 with just the aqua?

I like the different shapes but don't want them to clash. I want them to look good together. I might end up painting the white if it will look good, but want to wait before trying anything else right now.

The rug in the living room will be changed soon (as it's too small anyway for the space) and those red/gold pillows will be changed.

I would suggest the cream chair with the dark seat. The add cushions that work with the pillows and rug in your living room. I agree that fabric chairs can be a pain to keep clean. Plus, this way you can switch it up if you get bored with things. I would start with a rug that I love, then add the pillows and cushions.

A shade of cream / warm tone color will go well with the rest of your house! If you would like to add a bit of cottage style, maybe some small jars with the blue / green / white ribbons on them. I also agree that fabric chairs in the kitchen can be a headache (thinking about all of the fry oil and sauces).

I would recommend trying different styles of barstools with similar colors rather than matching two separate colors. Since there is going to be space for two barstools I would even say to do a fun pattern and it definitely wouldn't be an overload. The photo below has both light and dark blue. I would also suggest that you could do a gray and yellow pattern! *Chair is from Target

ok thank you all. I am going to go with the wooden barstools. I am just trying to finalize which of the two white/brown ones will go with the aqua blue that I have been eyeing. OR should I only choose the white/brown ones?

Here is a pretty rug, the colors seem right but I am not sure it is 'beachy', but I like it (Wayfair, Murphy Blue Area Rug). It can be challenging to find just the right rug and that's why I would start there.

thanks to all of you who helped me set up the kitchen. i got 4 chairs of the same type and will probably need help with lighting, cushions for the chairs (and living room). we wont have a formal dining room for now.

Do any of these rugs look like a good replacement to my current rug, that is anyway too small? I'm fine with any pattern - floral, paisley or modern geometric, ikat, southwestern styled rugs but definitely want a print and different colors. please suggest if this should be a different post as it is not really related to the original post.

I am still trying for the area to be somewhat cottagey but with a beachy feel. I feel it is really neutral and needs some color in a grand scale. Not sure if having bright prints makes it a relaxed beachy but I still want the bright, colorful feel. I still like combinations of bright blues and oranges which is what both the rugs have, if that makes sense. Thanks for helping me out.
