Thank you for your question. These are "Showhouse" cabinets made by Metropolitan Cabinets & Countertops located in Norwood, MA. Is that the line you are using? If so, their Showhouse line is constructed of solid wood and their painted cabinetry is painted maple. The flat panels may be veneer on plywood - but that's important to reduce expansion/contraction in the panels. All boxes are all plywood construction (not particle board). If you're doing a flat-slab door, veneered with an exotic wood species, then yes the edges can be "taped" with matching veneer. The taped edges can be delicate. There is another way to do the edges that isn't as sharp-edged and thus will withstand a beating that a kitchen door might take. However, it's not a modern, crisp edge. It's a bit rounded. My contractor loves working with these cabinets. They've often commented how well they're made. And, believe me, they don't hold back their commentary when something isn't well made.
