I really like your room and the art. The problem is your arrangement. I would take the art piece and hang it horizontally over the toy cubbies. Then mount the zebra head on the mirror (yes on the mirror) and hang above the sofa. If it's not too heavy and the back is flat command strips will work. Another idea is to buy an open frame and paint a color within the frame. Hang the zebra in the middle. Then take the gold stars and hang them to the right of the shelves above the desk.

Love the room and your art. I'd suggest rotating the painting horizontally and maybe try the zebra head above it. Try and find another spot for the sunbursts(?) - maybe by your desk.

You didn't ask, but if I may suggest a few other ideas.....

Unless you have it for guests, I'd remove the mirror. Maybe put a family or children's photo canvas or even their art over the bookcase.

It appears that you may have your drapery panels reversed. Usually decorative trim is on the leading (inside) edge.

I like the pieces that you've chosen! I think that you just need to fill some more wall space to make it look "finished." I would either add a few other coordinating pieces or consider hanging some large prints similar to your mirror size. Good luck, and nice job making a space functional in so many ways!

The art is very nice and actually a perfect mix in my mind of playful and elegant for a multipurpose room.

The problem as other have noted is that the grouping is too close/small compared to the Size of the sofa. Sometimes you need to just try visually, have someone hold the pieces for you while you take a step back. Three options I would try:

1-Just move the sun grouping to the right, still slightly under the zebra head but only a small part, to extend the "art zone" to the right
2- move the 3 pieces, think of the shape of a wave, instead of everything centered: the painting move slightly to the left, above the first seat of sofa, zebra head a tiny bit further apart from painting than it is now but height is good, and then the sun grouping at tail of the wave, a tiny part under the zebra but then flowing to the right side of sofa
3- don't move anything but add art on top left and bottom right (a bigger wave)

I actually like both pieces - the zebra head and the sunbursts but not for this space.

Perhaps doing something a little more neutral would be the best solution for it.

What do you think of a world map? Either a chalkboard or standard colored one?

Have you thought of adding some plants to your space? The greenery will really ground your room but liven up the space. It won't put so much emphasis on the wall art and would go well with a more subtle approach like the world map suggestion by Dezign With a Z. Best, iCube
