Tea Question for you

My sister-in-law was here for the week and she bought me a new teapot and it's one that I could use loose tea in quite easily. I'm looking for suggestions for loose tea and where you typically buy yours.

That is a Beautiful Tea pot Muraysmom. Harneyand Sons is great tea. I also grow the plant Lemon Balm and it makes wonderful tea when dried. It is very mild flavor. I would send you some if you message me your address. I dried lots of it this year and have lots more to dry if needed. Happy to share.

I like to mix the Harneys with plain tea bags to extend it and the flavor is still wonderful. I drink a lot of tea.

I would love that. I'll message you. Where do you get the Harney and Sons? I seen you speak of that before and I would like to try it.

I love Constant Comment - it's available at any grocery store.

That is a beautiful teapot! After the afternoon I've had, I could use a small glass, or three, of that vodka!

I'll share my window crashing, foot smashing, leg cramping, dog's escape attempt, his subsequent slipping on the hardwood floor, me falling over him (without actually landing on him) and his doggie potty accident, all at once, in front of company no less, mortified mortification story tomorrow.

Right now, I'm taking out the last bag of trash, heating some tea, pretending it's something stronger, and going to bed. I wish I didn't have to get up before next Tuesday.

    Cheers to all!

Cute teapot! I like Tevana, a spinoff of Starbucks, because the store always has at least 6-8 huge pots of different brewed teas that you can sample.

Long-time lurker here. I had to chime in because I am a tea freak. My favorite place to get loose teas is from a company called Simpson & Vail. They're based in Connecticut and have been around for a very long time and have the biggest variety of loose leaf teas from all over the world--different tea plantations, all kinds of flavored teas, green, white, black, herbal...you name it. They still send out a catalog and I love to sit down with it and decide which teas I'm going to try next. Prices are not bad for a mail order company, as you can buy teas by the ounce. An ounces last me a good long time. They even have new "literary teas" based on different authors that I haven't tried yet, but plan to. Just thought I'd suggest them in case you wanted A LOT of choices and variety.

Edited to add: I should have mentioned that their website is svtea.com. It's not as much fun as the printed catalog for me 'cause it's harder to navigate, but I guess more convenient. One weird thing about their website is when you check out, it automatically assigns the most expensive shipping choice. I always have a small heart attack when I see the total amount due and then remember that I have to change to the "normal" shipping. The one the website defaults to is $20.00 shipping or something crazy like that.

I'm so glad you started this thread murraysmom. I have a favorite decaf peach tea blend that I usually buy in St. Louis, and wondered where else I could find it.

Thank you all so much for the information. Very much appreciated. Who knew tea could be so complex?

Anglophilia, Constant Comment has been a favorite of mine, too, for many years. I do have that here and it is my "go to" tea most of the time.

I am going to make notes of what everyone has said and will definitely check out the Simpson and Vail site.

I'm looking forward to trying some new teas!! Thanks again.

Caroline, I can't wait to hear your tale! I hope there was no blood involved!!

Today my tea time was around 3:15. Trader Joe's English Breakfast with two cinnamon sugar thins. A new cookie from Chip Ahoy. They also make chocolate chip thins which I really wanted to try but they didn't seem to be on the shelf when i went shopping.

Shades and Garden, I am so impressed the you both make your own tea! Akiba, thanks for sharing that info.
