Next steps? Complete house gut

Funding, plans and gc involved. House is a complete gut and doing an extension. House had been completely demoed out. What is next? I know i will have to start picking out the finishes and details but don't know where to start and remain in budget.

Should I enlist help of interior designer? How much would this cost me on average?

Yes, I would hire an interior designer, he/she will keep you on track. Do not rely on GC for choosing finishes

From 1300-1750 sqft house. Small but i want it to look like my style and be family friendly aka child proof

There's probably a lot of stuff between gut and finishes -- has all the plumbing and wiring been mapped out? Has the new addition been built?

A designer can help you identify your tastes and preferences and put together fixtures and finishes that fit your vision and budget. How much that costs will depend on the level of detail you want from them -- mood boards? finding suppliers for every knob? Helping finalize floorplans and kitchen layouts? etc. A bit hard to tell what you mean by already having "plans," as I put a lot of that vision into the Before Demo basket...

This is something that should have been done before any walls were removed you need a designer NOW GC are seldom designers so do not let them make choices for you.

It sounds like you need an architect. Your house is a total redo. Do you really want it designed by a GC? I mean no offense.

'Find Pros' right here on Houzz, right now...

You may find success with either an Architect or an Interior Designer (or both!), but interview a few, get some proposals, and have a PLAN before you start anything more. Changes will cost you double down the road...

And if you happen to be located in upstate SC... :)
