I bought an Elberta peach tree from a home improvement store about 2 years ago. The last 2 Springs, it has dropped ALL its fruit buds when they were still only 1" or smaller. This last year it has grown very aggressively, but its oozing and has petrified sap at the root ball. The ball is misshapen, appears to have a black hollow cave at its core, like its rotted out (or the top graft has rooted instead of the rootball). It this tree a lost cause? i planted at the same dirt line that the tree came in the pot but Im wondering if the graft was too close too the ground...
