I've always loved your kitchen! Especially the happy green color. And the pendant lights. And the transom above that beautiful door. And the spaciousness. And pretty much everything! I can see why you love it so much!

Looks great! I love the door! I pretty much have the same set up and would love a door like that. The only differences I would be looking right into my neighbors den because our houses are so close!

Whenever your lovely kitchen appears, I get such a warm, contented feeling inside, as if all is right with the world. And when I remember the tiny maze that it replaces, well, all the better.

Ataverna - that wall that I look at 10' outside my door is my neighbor's house's wall. A few plants and stuff make a huge difference!

Carrie, I don't know if you know this but your lovely kitchen is my main inspiration kitchen. When it became clear that the best layout for my kitchen was a wide galley, seeing your kitchen helped A LOT. Reading about your experience took my worries away that a wide galley would be difficult to live and cook in.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your back door and the transom. I SO want to do a wall of windows like yours! Alas I settled for just keeping my bay windows. It's pretty darn amazing how wonderful the view out your back is, considering that's your neighbour's wall!

Still gorgeous and what you folks didn't see is photos of her gorgeous garden which is out the side of her doors.

I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting Carrie this past weekend when I was doing an outdoor art show in Philly. Unfortunately because of our timing, we weren't able to get to her place to see it in person but was so glad she came to visit!

I still think of Tuscany when I see those doors.. lol.. "aaahh Paris in da spring!".. heh

Thanks for updating us! I loved reading about and sharing in your process and in the wonderful result, and I have to admit that one of the first things I looked for in today's photo was your cat. I was a bit sorry when you finished your project, since it meant no more discussions, but yearly updates will help assuage the loss. :) Glad you're still loving the space.

How are you liking your fence-mounted shedlet by the front door?

blfenton - I am cooking more than before. Haven't made good cook status yet, but I'm trying. Also started dating a man with all kinds of food allergies & sensitivities, so much so that he can't really eat out.... so, that's inspired me, some, though he's still cooked for me more than I've cooked for him....

AvatarWalt - I bet the cats are on my bed as I type - just to show my cat-allergic boyfriend who belongs on that bed. :)

bpathome - shed outside the fence is good. I don't put stuff I use daily in there, but it's great for things like my 4' ladder and my tree pole pruner that I need every so often - I can pull my car right up on the street & load that stuff in & out.

bpathome, I posted this: The One Thing... quite some time ago. I pretty much agree now with what I said then: I would have sacrificed some of my cabinet space to make the window over the sink bigger, and also to give a bit of breathing room between the upper cabinets and the window.

That's the biggest thing. There are a few, smallish areas that I could have done differently. Largely things I did NOT consult GW about and decided on when I was overwhelmed and just not posting here.

Hard to believe it's been a year! It still looks wonderful and your garden area is amazing!!

Aw I am glad you are so happy with it still! I had forgotten you were in Philadelphia. I'm going to be spending a big part of this upcoming year in Philly, and I am gratified to know that someone somewhere in the vicinity has a proper kitchen!

I think that the only choice that I made in my kitchen that I ended up just not liking-nothing is exactly wrong with it-is the flooring. I am a docent at a facility where there is a beautiful cork floor and I really think I should have done cork. I believe that you did cork, correct? How is it holding up....cat claws a problem?

Philly is definitely the place to be. Wonderful city.

Next time I get to Philly, I am definitely going to see Carrie's kitchen.
