Dining room carpet

Does a lighter carpet go better on a dark floor? Can't decide if I want to go with a silver grey carpet or a black and grey carpet. Wall hangings will be changed to match or contrast. Home is decorated with grey, white/ sand, and black. Carpet in living room is light and very open floor plan.

Something with contrast to the floor would be nice. Not sure what colors you have in the adjoining rooms but you could pull colors from there into the dining room.

I would use a jute type neutral rug.

I don't think you need a rug in this dining room, but if you do purchase, then I'd suggest a lighter one with a subtle pattern that picks up the wall colour.

I'd go with the lighter version. Not sure who does the cleaning at your home, but keeping a black carpet lint free/ nice looking can be a pain in the ....

I think the idea of a jute or sisal rug could work, or a viscose soft taupe color that works with the linen on the chairs could be a good choice.

Beautiful room, I have a similar room and found sisal doesn't clean up well if something is spilled on it. It gets in the weave and is hard to remove.

I have a small sisal rug and agree with Hillary that they are difficult to keep clean. I like the look of sisal rugs though in the right setting.

I had a neutral woven rug in this space. My puppies put tons of pulls in it and it was ruined! My home is more monochromatic but I LOVE the black and white rug. It definately adds a wow factor, which I am looking for. Thank you!

A rug that has a smell of jute is not the best to have in a home with dogs.

You can also google silver and black area rugs too. There should be quite a good selection.

Be sure you don't skimp on rug size. Minimum would be 4' wider and longer than your table top.

I love the rug Mark picked out but it doesn't come in a 10'x14'. I loved the contrast but not sure if it will go with the Decore of the rest of my home. I'm debating between these two rugs...same rug, one with grey or one with black.

I need some ideas for furniture placement. I would like to maximize seating. It's a vacation home that sleeps 14. The door next to the fire place is killing me! Not sure if I should do sectional or all separate pieces. There will be a TV over fireplace.
