What undertone do you see?

Hi all,

I have beige and brown walls throughout my house that all coordinate really well (bought the house already painted) but I'd like to change the colors in just a couple rooms. I think it's to brown & beige and would like to bring in some gray or greige.

Problem is, I'm afraid gray or greige will clash with the undertones already in the house. For the life of me I can't see what colors the undertones are on the walls in these rooms. Also, I have A LOT of cream colored cabinets in the kitchen that I don't want to paint. I think they have a yellow undertone?

I'd love to hear your input and even paint color suggestions. I'd like to incorporate some beachy blues eventually, but think I'll just settle for lightening up the house with neutrals for now.

Creams and subtle blues on your walls would look great and really lighten the space. I don't see grays working. You can paint as many rooms as you want and they will still coordinate with what you have.

Love the pics! Especially the blue! So you don't think any type of greige would look good in my house?

I agree with Cali.....You see how your gray sectional is fighting to fit in? it's too cool of a shade. I think lighting those walls with a nice cream or the light blues that she has pictured above, would really look great. If you want gray, you may be able to get away with it in the far room w/the white sofa. But it has to be a warmer gray. Get some samples and try it out.

(I agree,,,too much brown in there!! wow.)

I would make a plan with a whole new palette that you can work towards, since it sounds like the current colors aren't pleasing you too much. Then with a long range plan you can prioritize the rooms you need a change in the most. A lot of Sherwin Williams stores have color consultants that will help you with this.

I'd LOVE to make a plan for the whole house, but here's the problem...we have MANY new cabinets than are a cream color (I think there's a yellow undertone) and we don't want to remove or paint them. Also, we have tan carpet at the far end of the house in a hallway where no one but family sees.

I absolutely love the idea of the blues and the room next to the kitchen and maybe a warmer greige in the room with the really dark walls and white couch.

If anyone has a specific color they'd recommend I'd love to hear it! Thanks for all your help!
