We are building a new home and the one room I will have to re-furnish is the Living/Family Room. This is part of a great room with dining and kitchen. When it is just the two of us, we eat in there more than I would like to admit. I love the designer looks with light colored fabric, but with our propensity for spills plus two dogs, it absolutely terrifies me. I cannot comprehend the level of crazy that would be unleashed if my husband spills an entire diet soda all over himself all over my beautiful furniture. So, how can I incorporate durable leather furniture and recliners and create a lovely, pulled-together, relaxing space without looking rustic? (or old) My house is a craftsman style and not contemporary in any way - just more transitional/traditional. Thanks for your help!
