I'm brainstorming ideas here.. not entirely sure where TV works. maybe the tv could go on the wall near where the dining table currently is?

I think the TV might work best along the wall that is closest perpendicular to the fireplace (where the chairs and floor lamp are).. then an L shaped couch along the wall where the dining table currently is. I could remove the chandelier or replace it with something that matched better.. add chair by fireplace and an oversized piece of art above the fireplace.. switch out fireplace cover ...

I will tell you the Z sofa will not be comfortable for TV watching with that very low back those pillows will not give support and will be moving all the time.When you get in a detailed floor plan will help us help you

I think you may want to work with an on line room planner and test out some configurations and then decide on the best type and style of couch & chairs or sectional as your room is very large and divided so it's important to tie in all of the spaces. Re: tv viewing, you could add shiplap above the fireplace and place tv there and I think the seating plan in 1st picture may work. Add a console to the right of the doorway as you walk in with a lamp and art above. To balance the room in other half, I would add a large bookcase on the back wall and siting area to read and the chandelier is placed perfectly. Also a spot for your computer on an appropriate wall is always handy and you'll have a multi functional space.

I'm renting this place short term so I can't do any major remodel. I'm not sure how complex shiplap is. What does everyone think about tv above the fireplace in this room? Would it look cheesy if I put TV above fireplace with only a mount?

@maureen I love how well the coffee table style goes with the style of carpet in the room.

I'm hesitant to add more bookshelves because there is another room next to it with a wall length white bookshelf.. initially that sounds redundant but maybe not..(pic of other room below)

I like the computer idea in the smaller area currently used as a bar!

I wasn't wondering if that z couch would be uncomfortable for watching TV. I guess it makes sense that it won't.. I have a few other options I like too. The z gallerie Del Mar and the Z Stella are nice. I also like this style
