Sink pendants

For placement of pendants over the sink...do you measure down from the ceiling or up from the countertop? With vaulted ceiling I have no idea at what level the lights should be. Most of the photos I have viewed have no window treatments..I want my pendants & treatments to stand out..
Might anyone have the solution to my problem?

    Our advice for hanging lights over a sink is to measure up from the countertop. We recommend hanging them a little higher than our general pendant guidelines (28 to 34 inches) so as to not block the view from the window and allow the tallest person in your home to use the sink without staring right at the pendant.
