I believe warranties start when you buy

I bought I bought all my appliances months ago and was told warranty begins after we take delivery.

Kind of hope they start when we take delivery. Can take advantage of sales.

We are rural and Sears was our only option for delivery. As cpartist says, warranty started with purchase. Also, for Sears, they wouldn't guarantee the exact appliance purchased would be available when delivery was requested later. I hope you find these policies were just Sears. We ended up buying close to when needed, at Fourth of July sales. So far no problems.

For Abt, the warranty started when it was delivered. Purchased appliances 6-12 months before they were delivered (builder promised 4-6 months, took 2 years to finish the job.)

I used the warranty on the 364th day after delivery - no problem.

We bought our appliances on Black Friday from Home depot and saved thousands.

I built a new home in Florida completing in 2015. We supplied the appliances through a dealer that our builder did not use. Although the appliances were installed in May - we did not get our Certificate of Occupancy (CO) through our builder until late Sept. All vendors Miele/Subzero Wolf/Fischer Paykel/Marvel updated my warranty to start with the CO date. I would call each manufacturer u plan to use and ask about new construction and start of warranty. It took some legwork and some vendors wanted a copy of the CO document and some did not. My appliances showed delivery to the new home site except for Marvel.
