Problem: Husband is 6'3. We would like a tall shower. We would have loved a private toilet and more natural light for our shower. Tile is in really good shape. It is neutral but that old school glossy ceramic. Tub is steel and in very good shape. We have bigger expenses than to be gutting and breaking a bunch of walls. House build in 1983. Tub is steel.

1. The tile on this tub was laid down on "cement" and I understand this is called "wet bed" and VERY difficult to remove. Is there a recommended way to remove this tile? Is it recommended to AVOID removing? What would one need to anticipate if going to remove and use new tile?

2. How would you update the shower/toilet area? We would have loved a private toilet and more natural light for our shower

Ideas:

a) Open toilet room up by only taking wall entirely down or maybe only wall down inbetween the studs between shower and bath to let light in but still keep door for some privacy.

b) Update shower with tall FROSTED doors

c) Update shower with tall CLEAR shower doors and add some sort of a room partition that is thin between toilet and shower. Ideas for thin/narrow partition?

3. Would a best update be to have all new tile and a tiled showerpan?
