I think clutter (for me). I have a very, very small kitchen and I visually don't like the look of things on the fridge. Having said that, I LOVE fridge magnets and have loads of them from traveling Where are they? The laundry room. I bought two nice white rectangle magnet boards from ikea. I like having them in the laundry room. I did see this really cool home idea where you can put magnets on the inside of your kitchen cabinets. Clutter, looks sloppy in a room that should be clean where I am preparing food.

It's good clutter. Our basement fridge sports all kinds of fun stuff - memorable photos game scheduled magnets etc. and I still have the ABC plastic letter magnets in a tin that all my children used. upstairs the fridge is without, so we have and appreciate both

How do you know if you have too much? You should still see some fridge. Otherwise, it's not about "decor", it's about living. Most fridges reflect their owners' busy lives, or sense of humour, or both. I will post the latest laugh-out-loud cartoon from the New York Times daily tear-off calendar, and I have a few treasured magnets that still raise a smile when I stop to notice them.

I put my magnets on the fridge in the garage and leave the one in the kitchen "clean"

I keep the magnets to a minimum and they're all high-end Ottawa Senators (hockey) magnets. A bright spot while I'm living in, cleaning out, and dealing with my parents' house and their estate.

Consider the side of the refrigerator as gallery space. Refrigerator magnets replace pushpins for hanging artwork so, naturally -yes.

An efficient use of space for calendars, appointments, important phone numbers, emergency instructions (DNR), cloud and weather charts, rain gauge measurements, next grocery buying list, coupons, hanging pot holders, scissors, small kitchen utensils and timers....functional, artsy, kitsch, poetry.

Clutter but a practical place to hang items. Homes are sometimes actually lived in and not just decor.

Not clutter & not art but lives lived. A reminder of the places we've gone to, family we don't see enough of & amusment for the grandkids.

I put other because ours are functional. Yes they are kept to a minimum, but a few chip clips, bottle opener, some cooking conversations are on the side and the Bed Bath and Beyond coupon we usually forget is on the front.

They are clutter but I use them to hold the calendar no phone numbers on the side so I can see numbers needed when I need them, reminders of appts are on the front with the card until time past, also have a list for food that I keep up to date whenever I go out! Side looks busy but the front okay,

I feel almost like a hypocrite. I think it looks like clutter now. My fridge is SS and is built in and will never wear a magnet. However, when our children were small and our fridge white, the fridge wore many magnets holding pictures or drawings, whatever seemed important at the time. My daughter now has young children and the side of her fridge is a snap shop of their busy lives. The hypocrite part of me enjoys looking at anyone's fridge that has pictures etc. when I visit some one else's home.

I prefer to have a decorative type of bulletin board for lists, art, keepsakes. With the cost of refrigerators there nice to see with no clutter!

I agree with bkind37.....the front of my fridge is totally clear of anything...side that doesn't show to the "public" has a calendar for reminders and just a few choice special magnets....I'm a senior citizen...no grandkids...when my kids were growing up, I too had pics and ABC magnets all over my fridge...LOL...now I'm in process of "paring down the clutter and downsizing my life", so less I have to clean, the better!! I think your vote all depends on the stage of life you're in at the moment....

my desire for an austere environment varies from room to room. i like my kitchen to be visually stimulating; checkerboard floor, doorless upper cabinets for every day crockery and glassware, open shelves in my baking corner. however, put ONE SINGLE ITEM on a bathroom vanity, other than hand soap dispenser, and watch me go totally ballistic.

When you have young kids it is fine....but when they get older, please get rid of them

The front of our refrigerator is stainless steel and magnets don't stick to it. When I designed our kitchen, I wanted the refrigerator to look built in, so the sides are now enclosed. That means there's no place for magnets on the fridge, which is fine, because I never like how they looked. It always looked cluttered, and anything that was stuck there seemed to stay stuck there even after it was no longer needed.

I've collected magnets from around the world, but they go on the garage fridge. The one in the kitchen is paneled.

Magnets from travels are displayed in my office. Refrigerator was cleared of magnets, but photos have crept onto the surface.

I agree they are both - very much clutter but I do have a few from vacation spots we've been. I also have two magnetic mini frames with my two now gone to puppy heaven Dalmatians but those are on the side where only I can see them when I cook. I actually hate them but but I guess not enough to do away with them. I can't even blame them on the kids....I don't have any :) oh well they remind me of our summer fun!

I use magnets printed at Shutterfly.com. I have many of family and some of places I have visited. So often I can get them free for only shipping. My greatgrandkids love seeing their pics and my friends love it too. It is not clutter but memories for me!

HUMAN! It connects with others living in the home and sometimes now way from home. The magnets hang children's art. Yes, it is lovely when you properly frame the kids' art, but many busy families simply don't have the time or money for such errands. Magnets can be inexpensive souvenirs of vacations. And I love the school picture magnets that are such rich reminders of the quickly passing seasons of our lives. To those who answered "clutter," those of us with cluttered lives just love visiting your tidy uncluttered homes. It is a welcome breath of fresh air alternative to our richly cluttered existences.

My child is now grown and I have a house cleaning business. I do collect small magnets from travels, but they are on the exposed side of my refrigerator. From a cleaner's perspective, it really makes my job difficult. I cannot polish a beautiful stainless steel fridge with magnets, photos, artwork and Scotch tape all over it. Therefore, I have to leave it alone for the most part and I can't do the kind of job I take pride in. I don't quite understand purchasing a $3,000 fridge and covering it up.

Depends. If I'm selling the house, or having a party, they are put away. Otherwise, my granddaughter is welcome to put her art work there.

Since the fridge is planning central, there are magnets, a magnetic calendar and a dry erase board with a small corkboard. They keep things organized, work schedules, grocery needs and important reminders.

I voted clutter, but that doesn't mean I don't have them all over my fridge. I hate the way it looks, but don't have the energy to find another place for all the little notes and stuff I don't want to lose. When we move into our new house next week, everything is going on a magnetic board behind my desk in the "kitchen extension" area. I am soooo looking forward to a nice, neat fridge (and kitchen).

I voted "Other" The simple magnets do tend to be clutter! But in our house the Magnetic "Clips" are invaluable on our fridge. From holding kids daily schedules - to holding upcoming bills - to holding Coupons that came in the mail for % off haircare to % off ice cream to % off clothing... we use these type of magnetic clips all the time.

I voted art, because I feel that--in moderation--magnets can add a personal touch to your kitchen. They express your interests, your sense of humor, and tell your guests a little more about you.

"Other": Art, Memorabilia,and Functional...So functional that I swear the amassed magnets kept my ancient refrigerator running well beyond its planned obsolescence. Now, however, we use a small fridge, as they do in England. With just two of us, who needs a huge appliance? This doesn't mean that we don't start the occasional science
project when something gets shoved to the back, but the back is a lot
easier to find.The little fridge door still shows where we've been on vacation, and holds magnetic clips to hold photos, seed packets, and the inevitable grocery list!

I am sorry but who is to tell anyone to "put them away". Do what what you want to your own fridge but don't try to make others feel bad. It is a short life, decorate with all the colors under the sun and let others live how they like.

When my new stainless steel refrigerator stuck out beyond the cabinets too far for my liking, I fretted about what to do. Send it back? Someone on line suggested placing my refrigerator magnets down the one side that sticks out, creating a feature. I tried it and it worked for me. I never use these pretty magnets (cat faces, angels, Mary Englebreit frames, etc.) to hold doctor appointments, pizza place phone numbers or photos. I treat them as art. They are displayed neatly, one below another down the "fridge" on the right side, not on the door. I enjoy looking at them.

I really miss seeing the photos of friends and families, and bits of kid art, that used to hang on my old fridge -- it felt homey. We also kept a list of leftovers in the fridge, and the grocery list, but those two have easily moved to the (enclosed) side of the fridge using command strips with clips attached. The photos and magnets are in a box currently in limbo with some older stuff from the front closet, awaiting the Great Office Reorganization Push of 2017! :)

Clutter that comes off when you're dressing to impress. Fridge that came with my house is nice but had this dry erase board stuck on. Don't know what's holding it on but I just can't get it off. So I decided to "install" a TV. I still wish I could get it off though.

I voted clutter but I actually like the picture. I do have a few that I think are funny and they work on stainless. I don't know why someone said they don't. I also have one on the dishwasher to let me know when they are clean are dirty. It's a spotted dog for dirty and a white dog for clean.

Could go either way depending on how it looks!

Fridge clutter!

Magnets don't stick to my stainless fridge, which is ok with me. I have a large bulletin board in our home office where I keep things posted. I like a nice clean front on the fridge. If I had little ones at home I'm sure it would be a different story!

I hate them with a passion. Major clutter.

They're a personal expression - which is a type of art - and a way to make me smile. They can also be clutter.....and I like clutter!
