HELP wiht Kitchen cabinets and Hardwood floors

last modified: 10 years ago

I love interior design and I’d say I have an eclectic glam style but on a budget, if that’s possible. Although I love my one bedroom brownstone in historic Bolton Hill of Baltimore city, I’m ready to move to a big city. I’ve decided to purchase a newly constructed home in Washington DC. Big life changing decision, I know. Coming from a historic neighborhood, I love that charm and character which unfortunately this builder grade house will lack but I have a few options to choose from in terms of hardwood floors and kitchen cabinets, at least.

I had an appointment with the Design Center but I’m really torn between the colors of the hardwood floors and the color of the kitchen cabinets. I love white cabinets since it gives that fresh look or do I go with darker cabinets since it’s not as pricey and more popular for resale? I need to give them a response ASAP, like yesterday.

I’ve attached picture of the hardwood floors I’ve picked. It’s called a Natchez Fedora which is a pewter sort of a dark wood, which I really like. My worry is that it’s a cool dark color and with dark cabinets my kitchen will look super dark. What do you think? Should I pick a warmer hardwood floor as shown in the second picture?

Also the pictures shows the colonial white counter top with dark cabinets and also against the white cabinets. I’m so confused.

So to sum it up should I go with the dark greyish floors with white cabinets or with dark cabinets? Or should I pick the cherry warm floors and go with a darker cabinet? Please advise.

Please HELP!
