More color, perhaps as simple as some colorful throw pillows.

Hang more/bigger art.

Nice big plant next to the TV near the window.

or maybe get a longer TV table that extends toward the wall and you can put framed photos/art there if you don't want/can't make more holes in the wall.

Just some inspiration, nice floor lamp, bright cushions, plants will look nice. Floating shelves either side of tv would look good to put photos etc. big art work instead of lots of small ones. Cute we dog, even if it did chew up your rug lol

You have everything (art and mirrors) hung a little too high to enjoy for the average person. Eye level on t.v. wall. For behind sofa 6 inches from top of back. If over a console piece, eye level is best. The mirror should be placed so someone can use it.

silly me, tried to get info out of your idea books. do you have a color preference? on pillows i can give you black and white geometrics. modern with red. just found some beautiful scandanavian. puppies, kitties, birds, florals, modern painters, killims, bunnies, foxes in love, african wildlife.

Great suggestions. Update your wall sconces. Consider looking for a wood TV console. Keep your eye out for a vintage one on Craigslist or thrift stores, yard sales etc. You want a console to be at least 25% wider than your TV, so go wider than you have now. You could go quite wide, great for extra storage.

In this photo, primarily grey tones except the floor and the console. They add the warmth.

Don't mind the mess, but we also have to HUGE window with a lot of space as well. There is additional storage in there.
Sorry for lack of ideas, new to the app and trying to figure it all out.

So, the ceilings are pretty high. And the walls are made of some incredibly hard material ( I think sheet rock) so unless you're the hulk.... screwing into those walls is HARD without a drill. I didn't want to cramp the walls and make it look crowded but if more wall art would pull the room together, I'm down!

As much as throw pillows would add some interest and color, they might end up as a chew toy for your puppy too?? I would concentrate on the walls with paint, and the larger art;)

I tried pillow ! Petey loved to run around with them , leaving stuffing in his trails. I Have a really pretty set of brown and mustard yellow pillows I keep in the closet and put them out when we have company.
We rent currently. So I'm looking at minimal money spent to pull this room together!

I had one idea... an old repurposed wooden ladder next to the TV? Maybe?

I love LIGHTS. Dim, cozy lighting. If I could decorate with Christmas lights everywhere, I would :D

i think a good start would be a new tv stand, much longer. do not hang christmas lights, instead, invest in lamps that go with you. new curtains would help a lot too.

instead of nails or screws use command strips, take down the stuff over the tv, and over the sofa and re group them into one display over the sofa.

I don't know if you have children or not, but a table that has a lighter feel to it, even if it's just a lighter wood color (or like this one glass) like downbytheriver put for the media unit would change the feel of the space.

looks like the sectional is right up against your registers, a safety concern? maybe put a light in that corner like the one 111ideahound posted. agree that a longer TV console would look better but I would also go taller with it. positioning it closer to the door it could be a dropping off point for keys and groceries when you come in. mounting a mirror above for last minute checks as you walk out the door, setting it up like the picture downbytheriver posted. lower all your artwork. as stated it should be mounted so that the center is at 60" the average eye level for most people wether its a single picture or a grouping. definitely not above the door frame unless you do a whole picture wall like my examples. if holes in the wall are a concern, think of adding narrow picture shelving where things can be added or removed without adding new holes.

Paint the walls a soft color. Bring in nice pillows for color (no more browns!), get lighter coffee table (not solid). Take everything off walls and go larger picture with a color from your new pillows, but fewer....don't hang them too high.

Definitely lower the pictures over the sofa. But otherwise they look great!
I personally would skip the letters, arrow and photo, or maybe relegate them to the bedroom. The artwork is much more interesting.

You should mount the tv on the wall and get a bigger entertainment stand. It looks very small for that wall.

Place Laplace all your art on either brown paper or newspaper. Trace and cut it shaped. Arrange on floor a pleasing group. Place up on wall with painters tape. So much easier than nailing hole after hole. You will there. Bottom of art should be no more than 8" above sofa.

Your black and white colour scheme is a classic base but can read as cold. Try bringing in more warm tones and texture found in your table, floor, blanket and drapes.
Pops of colour in accent pillows can be changed out inexpensively as season/ mood change
I'm not sure if you require room around your radiator, but you could angle the sectional away from it and fill the corner with tall branches. Remove the frame beside drapes and make a larger grouping with other two frames on couch wall. Hang art or centre of groupings at approx. 55-60 inches from floor.
Slide the tv unit away from sconce, but angle tv on stand to reflect angle of sofa. Shift and tighten up letter grouping so there is less white space between items.
Stop fighting your sconces. Update glass shades. Introduce touches of similar warm metal in other areas (wood frames with gold gilding etc.)

This is a good article. I had another article and can't find it. The best advice for starting to design a large gallery wall is to begin centering the largest one on center with your furniture that it hangs over, then the others will follow. Starting on the floor and cutting out pieces of paper the size of art to tape to walls (to see before nailing) is helpful, esp if you don't have someone to hold things up for you.

maybe gold tones to the black and white? Not sparkly, I mean gold warm autumn gold.

Are you not able to paint? Painting a soft color on the walls would totally transform this space.

111ideahound's reference to houzz article is spot on.....every personality gravitates to a different style of gallery wall, and there are lots of inspiring images posted there. I think your 'leftover pieces' ( letters, picture and arrow are a cute grouping on their own. Hang in there....you'll get it right!

Alright here's my update . The couch wall I'm satisfied with. Command strips are not cheap and I already put the big picture up before the advice to lower ! But I'm happy! The TV wall I haven't finished. I was thinking about making it a canvas wall of personal pictures from family trips, etc. I like the flow so far (minus the white canvas up... that ones coming down it just looked too empty and it was bothering me. Already had a nail in the wall so I stuck that there).
I justified the Christmas lights because it looks so cozy and makes me happy!
I'm looking into getting a large plant for the empty corner next to the window and TV.
Buying a new TV stand really wasn't in my budget so I just moved it to the edge and turned it and added some little ditties to make it look nice.
So far.... it looks 1000x better with minimal money spent.

No they don't bother the picture at all! Money is kind of tight that's why we went with string lights over a tall lamp. And I could. It's stained right now.... I wouldn't even know where to begin with a color

Hello, Obedience School? The pictures MUST be lower, do it. Use toothpaste or wall puddy to fill holes and then use no-hole hanger lower. A tall plant in corner is great advice too. Shop around, you can do it. I'm glad you're adding a light color on wall. Texture with pillow (& and rug after school) They go with you and are less work.

Wow!!! You have really improved the look of your room with just a few changes! If you want to add color w/o a rug or pillows, add a different throw to sofa ( use yellow color in pillows you have). Check to see if you have a blanket or sheet you could use. Thrift stores/garage sales usually sell this for $2-$4. Add a low bowl or plate to your coffee table---use color in pictures over sofa...red, green, orange etc ( check your kitchen for what you have if not check thrift store/garage sales or Dollar Tree). Add 2 tall candles and a sm plant, books or magazines to coffee table. You could also find a TV stand similar to yours for $5-$10 at ts/gs or maybe even curbside for trash. Put it up against one you have for longer TV stand ( If it is higher than one you have, put TV on higher one.). You could add a mirror over it as suggested earlier. Put a rectangular tray, basket, baking pan on it for mail, keys etc. You can spray paint
these items a color from your pictures. Maybe add a lamp on end of TV stand. All of these items that I have suggested you should be able to find for $20-$25. If you can't purchase all at one time, purchase as you can. Different drapes when you can afford-look for ones with grommets (rings at top) or attached clip rings. I volunteer to decorate room, apts etc for abused women and know about buying things on the "cheap"! Your room looks remarkably better!!! Good job!

This room absolutely needs a pop of color, especially with that beautiful black sectional. I suggest a colorful rug and possibly a gallery wall behind the couch. here are some more inexpensive ideas. go to amazon. they have pillow covers for 1 cent. and they are adorable. you can get bags of filler or old pillows from charity thrift. or 2 for $5 bed pillows at local cheap store. for walls, think of a scheme, colors patterns etc or it could be album covers all are cheap at local thrift store. look

I would group the mirrors in an interesting way on one wall. Then, I would suggest you have the large art work lower on the wall so that the bottom edge is six inches higher than the back of the sofa.

You could "paint" a rug on the floor to bring in more color to your room.
