Had this one installed for my sister in a small condo kitchen and having two doors makes it easy when there are two people in the kitchen.

I'm not a fan of French door refrigerators. On the one hand the doors are narrower, so they don't impede in the walkway as much as a single door. However, they can be unadvertently left ajar, as they are more difficult to close due to the bar between them. I do like bottom freezers in a 36" wide refrigerator, so either one is better than a side by side in that size.

Most french door fridges require both doors to open anyway i prefer a single door opening toward work area I think it is so funny that NAs have this fixation on huge fridges where we all have super markets at out disposal 24 hrs a day. I shop many times during the week for fresh meat and produce so the only reason i have a huge fridge is i run a small catering biz from my home, but we rent an apt. in Paris where the fridge is the size of a DW and it suits us just fine for our stays

Thanks, Patricia. I agree. I am less concerned with overall fridge storage but do very much value buying as close to counter-depth as I can go w/out going integrated. I'm moving the fridge in the drawing all the way over to the door entry (no 16" counter landing) so I'd like the area to the right of the fridge to be as streamlined as possible.

Thank you, Mimi. Interesting point. Though with both doors open (as is required for French Doors) the fridge user would be causing obstruction on both the door *and* the range side (where I will likely be standing most of the time). Thoughts?

I LOVE the freezer on the bottom. Make sure it is a drawer and not a door.

I do not love the French doors. I still have to open both to get to the meat drawer.

I have a U shaped kitchen. My frig is French door top and bottom and I love it.

I looked at your floor plan and I don't see this as a problem with your stove area. It's not like you have an island in the way.

Thank you, Kris. I guess I was just envisioning myself cooking and wanting to open the fridge and grab some butter, cream, etc. with one hand. My stove used to be right next to the fridge which was less than desirable but got me used to a certain way of cooking.

With a single door, the user will naturally stand slightly to the right side (hence very slightly in your space). With the French Door, there may be a bit of a door swing towards you, but the user also has the option of favoring use of the left door. In this case, I feel that getting in the way of the cook is a fairly minor consideration compared to good traffic flow, and your personal preference in door style, from a practical standpoint.

You can do that. I have the Samsung French door frig and you only have to open one door at a time to grab something. I do it one handed all the time.

Is the Samsung truly counterdepth?

No, I didn't want a counter depth. I have a large family. I'd need two of those, LOL
