You mean use both rooms as kitchen? Do you have other places to eat? Do you cater large events? What is the scale of the house?

Yes, move the kitchen toward the dining room, and have a large table at the other end. We do not cater large events, we may have 4 families at a time over, but can work around the island and a table for eating.

Thinking a table in front of the sliding glass door that goes out onto the deck.

Lovely plan. If your family rarely use the firmal dining room, I would say replace the tabke you have in the kitchen centre with a large island with the natural stone flowing to each side.
Carry the kitchen cabinets over in to the current dining area. leaving space for a table that seats 6 - 8 people.
