yes but im thinking a charcoal or weathered gray rather then white, since it seems to be iron.

NO. A common mistake is painting beautiful wood work (stone and brick also) and then you can never go back. Many of homes and furnishings have be ruined this way. Plus, you have to clean more, repaint because they look dingy.

I like the chairs in the current black color. To me the white chairs seem too casual with your rug choice, and also don't go well with the table. I would add a gold cushion to the black chairs, and change the light fixture to incorporate the black iron.

Leave the chairs black and add cushions. Really don't like the painted look in this space. Just me.

With the rug and table base I think you should keep it black

So Sorry you painted them. Now there are 2 fighting styles in the room. The casualness of he white paint and the elegance of everything else. Perhaps taking them back to a dark color that is in the rug?

I know I get distracted with elegant when I really would like to be more casual in certain spaces. I guess I'm trying to pull the 2 together.

I'd paint the chairs the color of the rust/red in the drapes to continue the boost of color the room needs. And I would update the lighting with something with a more modern twist but keeping a traditional feel to go with the room.

The side board is definitely the way to go. It compliments the table and anchors the wall.

i really think it looks good. i wonder how you feel about changing out the rug?

Well I have to confess I have a little motivation, I'm having my youngest daughters birthday party this weekend at the house. We've only been in this house for 2 months so I am still working on things. But typically when I get on something, I'm on it so I can move on to the next project, I'm my own worse enemy, I completely wear myself out! LOL!

Downby what were you thinking for a rug? Color, pattern etc.? I think a lighter rug would look nice because my floors are dark but this room is used so I'm trying camouflage any spills or stains.
