Advice Decorating Large Mantle Space

Hi! My wife and I purchased our home last year and have had a heck of a time figuring out what to do with our large mantle space. I have attached a picture of it (though this was the previous owners listing photo so not our decor). Currently we have a 58 inch tv right in the middle and DVD shelves in the book on the left. I'm planning on getting rid of the DVD shelves and moving the dvds to the shelf we put in in the large space underneath next to the fireplace but that leaves a lot of space on the left side of the tv and about 18 inches of space on the right side as well. I really hate clutter so I want this as clean as possible but leaving it empty feels way too bare. I'd love some ideas!

i dont think this is a space to display dvd's i would get baskets and put those on the lower right filled with the dvd collection. less is more. the above picture is actually good nice and clean and allowing the design of the space to speak.

Yeah the dvds will go into boxes below. I'm not a big fan of this design though. I'm not big on the lamp in the little nook area or the wine fridge next to the tv.

Have you considered moving the TV to the right of the fireplace instead of above the mantle? If all that stuff were off the mantle it would look a lot more sleek and organized....maybe shelves where the lamp is now and plants in the area to the right of the chimney....

Do you mean moving it to the right side of the mantle or mounting on the wall the right? I can move it to the right on the mantle a bit but my tv is much larger than the one in the picture so at some point it hits the arch on the top. I wouldn't have an issue mounting to the right where that wreath is but it's a really small wall space with a large window to the right.

I do like the idea of shelves in the nook area left of the chimney

well no less is more could you add door to the open lower area? also, you could dry wall the niche and wall hang the tv.

We actually have a large shelf in the open area underneath that fits perfectly though I may look to do doors over the shelf. I actually thought about hanging the tv but I'm not sure it would make much of a difference.

well, i mean close off the arch way above the fireplace with dry wall, then hang the tv.
