gosh it is beautiful. back away from the wood. what i see that might throwing is darkness and old fashioned. lets ditch the balloon drapes,. get brighter artwork, i assume the fashion industry pics. original is always better but if that is your business, just get those. i recommend you get fashion posters and then hand color them. with posters you can also alter them so they fit in the design so it looks framed. this will also lighten the room.

i would do simple white sheers for windows. if you want a more modern take, i think these would look great in this room

it looks like you have a gray carpet and a gray chair. do you have colors in mind?

You have a beautiful room with wonderful wood trim! I would leave it as is. It would look less fussy without the balloon shades and only the blinds on the windows. I'd also remove the carpeting if there are hardwood floors underneath.

Then do a furniture plan, carefully noting where you'd place your desk and any other office furniture you need (file cabinet, credenza, etc.) If the armoire isn't needed for office supplies/equipment, I'd move that elsewhere in your house. An area rug would be a good choice on the floor.

And of course you'll need lighting. Depending on your budget, you could either use table and floor lamps or hire an electrician to install some sconces. I wouldn't ruin that ceiling with recessed lights.

gorgeous room! agree the balloon drapes have to go. I would leave the wood as is. You could stick with a traditional look and add a dramatic light fixture or you could even go a little more modern-ish like the last picture
