speed oven vs microwave with convection

I don't quite understand what the difference or advantage is in one verse the other. Can anyone please advise? Thank you!

I'd like to know the same thing. I don't know anyone who actually has a speed oven, but they've caught my eye.

I went down the rabbit hole tonight and read every single post on the internet about it. With that, I have narrowed it down to the Miele (there are 3 levels) and Bertazonni (cheaper option but gets good reviews). Ultimately, it comes down whether you want something that is more of an oven with microwave, or a microwave that can act like an oven. It's difference that impacts how the machine i made and the range of functions. For me I think i prefer the speed oven.

I have the Miele Speed Oven. My favorite feature is how quickly it preheats for the bake or the convection bake setting. It is nice to have the option to use the speed (combined microwave/convection) setting but I only use that setting in a pinch. For example, dinner is ready except for one dish and it's not something I want to microwave. Or, I forgot to put a refrigerated lasagna casserole in the oven & I'd like to serve dinner in 30 min versus an hour. If you don't anticipate using the speed setting, you'd be fine with a microwave / convection oven.

Without getting into brands, I think the key difference between a speed oven and a
microwave/convection oven is that in a speed oven, the microwave
and the convection can run either separately or at the same time. With a microwave/convection oven you must choose which mode you want to use.... either microwave or convection, but not both together. I believe the speed ovens also have broil functions which the microwave/convection (at least the one that I owned) do not.

Thank you all for the help! This makes sense to me. I think I am going for the speed cooker one the microwave. The other thing i really like about it is that because of the broiler, it can also replace my toaster oven, which i use every day, but that takes up a lot of counter space. I do love the Miele, but I think the Bertazonni is the way to go. It has all the programmable functions that the higher model Miele's do, but for almost half the price. I think the basic Miele may be too limited and even that is more expensive than the Bertazonni. Bertazonni is still a very nice brand and I'm told they amazing customer service and repair! I know i sound like i work for them! ha..... i swear i don't.
