scale is the issue here.

the mirror would serve better over the bench reflecting the windows, opening the space, and giving a place for a quick look on the way out.

the vase on the floor and the lamp appear larger then the chairs, they are just too small for the area.

remove the rug altogether, for now, put two darker chairs flanking the credenza.

maybe try the whole credenza mirror lamp set up at the entry, bring the bench and use to of the chairs in this sitting area.
