Anyway, it's dark because you have dark floors and cabinets and black appliances. If you aren't changing those choices, then you could either paint your pine or white wash it. I would have chosen lighter cabinets and appliances, instead. I'm not sure what they were thinking, there.

Thanks, I appreciate your comments. I guess my other option might be to paint the cabinets white? I'm not planning on changing the appliances, they are pretty new.

I would definitely paint the cabinets over the pine. I love how the pine looks! Assume it is very different from your home and that helps to feel like a get away.

I would, also. I don't care for the cabinet and floor choice with the pine. You can fix the cabinet color. It doesn't have to be white, but something light for sure. A sage green would be nice.

In the living area, if that is your dark couch, get a light rug to go underneath to break up the dark.

I would paint some or most of the walls. With the wood on the walls and ceiling I find it overwhelming. If the walls were painted white or some other soft colors then the ceiling would stand out as a prominent feature and feel higher and more open, instead of everything blending together, as it does now.

Ben Moore clouds white or Sherwin Williams Alabaster are warmer whites. A warmer white is often paired with the tones you have in the pine. Some of this depends on what exposure your kitchen has. A northern exposure can really change or bring out different undertones in the paint. I would get some samples and try a few to see what you like.

Thank you so much. I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the wood. This is really a summer place so lightening things is a must. I'll check out the colours that you suggested. I was a bit worried about which white to use with the yellow in the pine. Thanks again for your help.

Sherwin Williams has their own stores. BM has comparable colors and they can match it, too.
