I think you can go much darker on paint colour in your cove area. To make it a cozier space. Also, a bigger rug, an extra table to put your drinks on, a bench in front of the window and the chairs turned towards the view?

Your space is beautiful! Do you want to keep the two chairs there? How about adding a library table in between the two chairs and add reading lamps, books and plants to the table. Then add window panels just for color/ texture. Some pillows and a throw or two for the chairs. And maybe a nice area rug to ground the reading area. Great place for morning coffee! I'm not sure how to attach houzz photo that I have in one of my idea books but if someone can tell me ill be happy to add it later.

Don't be afraid to turn the chairs to enjoy the view. put them on a large area rug. Your table looks odd, like a demi lune. Can't really see it but would add a larger lamp. It would make a great reading nook as well. Add some bookshelves or build in a window seat around the perimeter. You could add a table, using the two wing chairs at the ends and the window seat for the window side of it when you entertain larger groups than your dining table can handle.

I love the room's bone also: may I ask what you would like to use it for? To me it looks like the perfect spot to build in a deep window seat and flanking bookcases. The along with your wing chairs and bigger rug you would have the perfect den!

I would do a matching pair of upholstered skirted comfortable club chairs with a small round table between facing the window to have coffee and watch the wildlife, maybe an ottoman, no curtains, remove items from over the window....the chairs now have "legs" showing as do your dr chairs....skirted chairs will soften the room

i was just about to post pretty much the same as brody. 2 club swivel chairs in a soft chenille. a grapevine table between them. a larger rug. a swing arm floor lamp for reading.
OR if it's just 2 of you: an extra deep cozy loveseat with a fairly low back. face it to the window. put a pretty ornamental iron or grapevine type bench behind it to use as sofa table or seating as needed.
walls in sage or the cinnamon carolins suggested. no drapes.

Sorry I missed your request about loading pics from your Ideabooks. Before finishing a comment, I minimize the page and open a new window to Houzz. Go to my ideabooks or to something I've searched in the Search discussions box above. I find the pic I want, left click on the pic to open it.. Right click on the pic and choose "Open in a new window" button. It will, and you right click on the link in the browser and say "copy." Go to the Dilemma where you want to show the room, click in your comment box, do a"ctrl v" and it will pop up. A thumbnail will show, or if it is a tutorial, the thumbnail won't shoe until you click Submit. I prefer adding the links after commenting so there are no visible links in my text. Hope that works for you. There may be an easier way; check the FAQ as well.

I would make it more condusive for "wildlife watching" and face the chairs towards the window. Looks like a place I would have my morning coffee in everday. I think a round 5 or 7' rug would look gorgeous in there. Something to compliment the chairs.

I can not tell from the picture if the height of the window sill but if it is 18" heigh, a very cozy idea is to do a custom built seating in which you can have a seat cushion and throw pillows in the color sheme you are using in the rest of the area. I will definitely do window treatment but not curtains i will either do Lambrequins with Roman blinds inside the window probably since as I can see you have wood moldings around them

The other side of the kitchen and part of the great room. I would like to make the cove more rustic. I like the ideas with the antler lamp, table and facing the chairs toward the view.

Great space for a breakfast nook.........!!! So much inspiration and ideas in that little corner tucked away!!

Actually don't think I would do curtains it would close in the room, you have a beautiful window and people pay a lot of money to let natural light in. Enjoy the view and let the sunshine in

Warmer hues in alcove (somewhere in the yellow ochre values to a rust, with slight metallic glazing, maybe?). Wrap around seating, with inward curves to take full advantage of the views. The two chairs pushed right against the windows make it so one must look over ones shoulder to see the view. Ouch. Some kind of place to put your tea, coffee, or book while you enjoy that beautiful view. Good luck :D

Please don't put up any curtains-no roman curtains-no blinds-nothing on windows. Keep them plain IF you have a view to look at. I agree that people pay a lot of money for windows like that and to allow sunshine through in the daytime is lovely.
I really like your chairs and the idea of a window seat is nice but I love the idea of the chairs facing each other with a huge ottoman between with a huge tray on top that can be moved as necessary. Books and good lighting in the room and a set of binoculars (with bird book) IF you have a view and bird feeders close by. My friend has exactly the same set up and she put two matching chairs facing a love seat/seat and a half (?) facing the two chairs and a huge ottoman. Looks fanatic. They kept their windows free from any curtains and blinds and it is simply elegant and splendid. People just gravitate to that nook and as a husband and wife, they often have their coffee out there and love to sit and read. Just a few ideas for you to think on. I also like "skksk' idea with the table. The room needs something to anchor it like a table or ottoman.
Also, "anne dee" (Saunders Residence) photo of living room NOOK is super, but I would put the wee tables next to the window, not out in the room as it is showing. It makes the tables look insignificant and tiny compared to the heavy look/ country look of the nook.
I also liked the idea from "Sandra Caggiano."You have a wonderful spot and it is a great space for a breakfast nook. Whatever you decide, it WILL be gorgeous. You can't fail with that lovely room.
