i said goodbye to lilly this week

lilly was a rescue about 5 years ago. near as i could tell, she was probably about 7 years old when she began showing signs of arthritis last year. i worked with her vet on a dosage of rimadyl and also adequan injections over the past year. a couple of months ago, i noticed her walking on her knees again, much of the time. the injections and meds were becoming ineffective. i could not put her through a cold, damp winter without relief from her pain so my vet and i decided it would be best to lay her to rest. she went very peacefully, no struggle at all and i buried her in the field not far from where porkahontas is buried. *sigh* RIP sweet girl, we will miss you.

      Oh Nina ... you've had way too many losses in such a short time. Big ((( HUG ))) to you and the rest of your kids. We will all miss her.

      thank you all so much for the kind words. and yes, pamghatten, it's been a rough couple of years. three danes and two piggies...i hope that will be it for a very long time.

      lilly was a work in progress for quite a while. it took me many weeks before she would accept me as her pal. she came to me in pretty bad shape but eventually she got healthy and came to love tummy rubs. she was a sweet girl.

      you all are so sweet! i know you all know how i feel because you feel the same way about your pets whether they are furry, feathered, hooved, scaly, whatever. lilly did live "high on the hog" (love that!) during her time with me. i had a guy in the office on thursday who asked me why i paid a vet instead of just having somebody shoot her. i told him just the fact that he had the balls to even ask the question told me what kind of person he is. seriously???

      You just have one pig left? How is s/he doing?

      socks, i actually have 2 left, both boys. arnold and harley, and they seem to be bonding now that they are alone together. i found them sleeping together under the heat lamps the last couple of mornings. :)
