Can the receptacles be wired spearatley in a bar?

We want to run a separate circuit to each receptacle

Yes they can. You would have to remove the joining wires.

a 72" unit has 4 sets of duplex receptacles though, a lot of wires. Unless you mean alternating circuits, every other receptacle set.

Can each duplex receptacle in a 72" unit be wired separately to its own stand alone circuit?
