It's glass tile, backpainted bright white. It was used in 2 different areas of the kitchen, in different sizes to create some interest, yet also harmony.

I believe that we chose a narrow 'pencil' shape for the main backspash - a 3/4" x 6" with two rows per tile sheet.

Then, on the 'servery' area, we used more of a checkerboard shape in the same glass tile, with 6 rows of 2" each and 1" high per tile - all in one sheet.

The reason we used this very light reflective tile, was to help capture the same open feeling that the new sliding doors used across one entire kitchen wall created! Light and reflection - the feeling was mimicked by the tiles; light, airy, reflective.

Hope this description helps you decide on the look for your space!

Thanks! that is a lovely kitchen too, but I think it is different from the original one. The backsplash tiles in the original picture look larger with a texture in them?

Thanks back. It's actually just grout lines showing as the natural light is highlighting the left side of the image! These are clear glass tiles in bright white! They are tile sheets of glass, in 12" x 12", which is pretty standard. Hope this helps!

My advise would be to select the tile based on the 'theme' for the space and then also for the proportion of the space. We wanted to create long lines of cabinetry and so we used the same tile, minimal style, with no pattern.

Actually, I went back and looked at close-ups of the photos as we had many bright white glass options - it is a smaller subway tile, laid in brick pattern. See attached close-up image.

The 'servery' was pencil thin bright white glass tile!

You have a very good eye! (and I have a poor memory!)

;-) been staring at too many pictures! Any chance you might be able to tell me where you sourced the tile from?
