NYC Laundry Fun

Thought of you all yesterday when I was in NYC for the day and stopped off at my favorite hardware store, Gracious Home.

One nasty surprise is that they have pretty much stopped selling all the Euro brands of detergents they always sold, at least in their original store. I did find some fun stuff and snapped a few pix. I haven't seen boxes of Borax like this for years -- they did keep that.

More fun was the colored toilet paper and paper towels.

And my first time actually seeing a Laurastar ironing set up IRL. This looks like a serious piece of equipment to handle volume ironing. Quite impressive. The tank is below on the cross legs and the ironing has changeable sole plates with different hole figurations.

Roc..I'm LOL'ing at picturing you hiding around corners in the store taking pictures LOL

Very cool...I remember the colored TP, and that iron and board looks fabulous.

The Borax is a current box at least that's the box sold in Walmart.

Did you look at the Cascades by any chance?

    Thanks for posting this Roc..fun.

The store no longer carries specialty laundry detergents. I hadn't seen that Borax. It was one of the few exceptions.

Didn't remember the colored towels/paper either. It reminds me of children's birthday parties.

Love the colored toilet paper and paper towels. I wish they sold those close to me; I would buy some just for the fun of it.

Fun! I haven't seen colored toilet paper like that either. I love the ironing board.

Never ever seen toiletpaper in color, thats unheard of in Sweden.

The Laurastar I almost bought 12 years ago but passed on it due to price but regret it somewhat but now I crave for the miele fashionmaster instead.

I always look at their stuff on line.

I remember when toilet paper had flowers on it; my aunt always had that toilet paper in her bathroom.

My Nana had pink everything. A pink Lincoln (she called it her pink party car), pink GE kitchen appliances (house built in 1959), and pink toilet paper. We buried her in a pink outfit.

Mama, I was thinking UTIs were caused by the TP color, but didn't think of what you said. Never used colored TP.

Enduring-you're both right. Colored TP has been linked not only to uti and yeast infections, the dye used is linked to cervical cancer. This was back when it was popular. Maybe this new TP uses some sort of natural, safer dye. Looks more like streamers to me lol.

Enduring yep your correct about the UTI's also...I ment to add my comment as also not solely. ..sorry.

In the 50's my beloved Aunt had a pink bathroom with pink toilet paper. ..of course I loved her bath. LOL
