How wide should the lighting be for a 36' island. Is it acceptable to do one at 12" or do I need to look at more than one for a better effect?

Hi Patsy! I think you could possibly get away with just one pendant centered over a 3-foot island. Since we generally recommend spacing pendants 2 feet apart over an island, it may be difficult for you to put two over yours.

The island is not too large and a 12" fixture should be enough. I recommend to use a fixture with 2 or 3 lights, or a small multi pendant chandelier.
