What type of rug?! And how does it look so far?

Redecorating our family room and have this new furniture with some new decorations. Still waiting on our tables. Would a rug work? Trying to maintain an open concept feeling!! Thanks for you advice!

Some ideas. I know you said you wanted an open concept. Is that your entry door, I would be inclined to put couch in the position like in pic and make a bit of a foyer area, much cosier. Hard to tell with your pics. You have a really lovely room

Love the yellow and gray combination. Yes to rug. Make sure it is large enough, one of the biggest problems I see on this site is rugs that are too small. Use newspaper to make a template on floor for rug size. Make sure front 1/3 of sofa and chairs are on it. What is opposite the sofa? I would be inclined to move the chairs opposite the sofa. Chest is too high to be used between chairs. Tables should be no higher than chair/sofa arms. Make sure curtain rod is hung just under crown molding & wider than window & panels should just touch floor. Make sure the total width is 2-3 times the total window width.
