Oil off wall, HELP,

A few months ago I had a family member try to wipe my walls down with murphy's oil soap. I insisted against it and it happened anyway. How can I get this crap off my walls? I have tried everything and this awful film and sheen of nonsense won't come off!

I don't know. Have you tried rubbing alcohol on a spot? It might do the trick and it is cheap. Just keep the area well ventilated if it works.

Just my opinion, but if it has been on the wall for months, it is on there for good, and taking it off is also going to take off the paint. That said, Murphy's oil soap is made from vegetable oil, so a solution of ammonia and water might work. Or a solution of TSP and water. Or a Mr. Clean magic eraser, used very gently?
