we are expanding our kitchen to about 16x12. the layout is attached. we have already ordered decora girard doors in jasmine (cream) for the cabinets, and are leaning toward santa cecilia granite for the perimeter counters, a sand colored honed stone (san sebastian?) for the backsplash and a wheat/sand color for the walls. questions: would a dark wood floor (we're considering "kobra" strand bamboo from lumber liquidators) and/or a dark wood (walnut?) top on the peninsula be too dark for a relatively small kitchen with light colors on the perimeter? it will get decent sunlight, but the peninsula will be very prominent and i don't know how a dark color there will affect the room. also, the rest of the house (including adjoining hall and dining room have light oak floors). will the drastic variation in floor colors make the kitchen look cramped or "sunk"? does anyone have pictures of a smaller kitchen with dark wood floor and white/cream cabinets? the combination looks great on the larger kitchen pics i've seen, but i don't know about smaller spaces. any advice, pictures would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
