I planted seeds in very late summer. Time to protect them. From cold. Well,its still mild enough..but the time is getting very close.

What do you have as pests? Coatimundi's? Bats? Iguana's?

This is the one i have in the ground.

last year was a mild wointer. 1 night around 32F

a few in the mid 30s, but no frost.

every year they both die back to the trunk and loose a couple of small twigs

the first year the large one died back to the ground... 1 inch above and came back.

the one in the container seems to get hit hard every year. this spring it looked like a dead stick, and didnt leaf out till i think June.

i have a greenhouse, but the weather report had said 37F, and i was too lazy to move it... when i woke up there was a thin layer of frost on everything and it was 32F.

hopefully this year i can protect it better, its small and compact enough in a 13gal kit trash can... LOL
