Quick question, can't remember a term

I remember seeing where someone had gone to a plant show quiet awhile back. Some of the pictures they posted were of plants that formed a sort of pot from the roots?? They looked nearly like lava rock, if I remember correctly.

Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about, or am I just losing my mind?

Are you thinking of 'caudex'? Not really 'pot'-like, but most are really interesting.

Can't think of what you mean otherwise.

(...I wasn't thinking of specific plant, just a "term" for roots/stem formation...)

I agree Kevin, your suggestion is very good. It does look like a lava rock. Those are nice plants (do not want to get any since may get hooked, lol)

Yup, you were both right! It's been nagging at me all morning, so thank you!

There was one plant in that group that had grown into a shape resembling a pot. Actually, they didn't have the plant in a pot at all, if I understood correctly. I'll have to try and dig up that post now that I have the term :)
