All three fixtures in a shower only unit?

Some of the shower ideas have the shower head, temperature 'knob' AND the water nozzle (up high with the water temp control. What is the reason, or advantage, to keeping the water nozzle? We are getting ready to convert our cracked tub / shower combo to a shower only and don't know what to do about this situation.
