My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

1961 kitchen redo

We wanted to make our small u shaped kitchen more open and functional and on a limited budget. We really like the mid century birch cabinets, so we decided to work around them, but lighten and brighten the counter, the backsplash, open shelves, no soffits, and a range hood. We even managed to repurpose some hanging cabinets by turning them over, putting on legs and adding a top! New floors will come later after we save a bit. Now our whole back room is an open, yet cozy living space.

    Vast improvement. I'd see if I could get either a real thin sheet of wood, or even fake to cover the back of the cabinets where they are grey.

      Yes! Zealart. We were thinking of the same birch veneer, but also tossed around painting a cool mid century stencil, or perhaps thick stripes in light Aqua to dark Aqua from top to bottom. Thoughts?

      I wouldn't do a stencil, as it doesn't tie with anything in the room,and it's not exactly a wall that you want to bring focus on. I would want the eye to go to the kitchen, the lovely tile and openness, not down on a "random" wall. At the bare minimum, I'd use the same color as the rest of the wall. It looks like it's currently different.
