Need help with my fireplace and TV setup

ok 2/3 part question & advice:so I have my TV over the fireplace and its SUPER

1) so I have my TV over the fireplace and its SUPER high because the mantle is super high. I would like to lower the TV and lower the mantle. Any ideas on what height the mantle should be if we 8-9 foot ceilings? Also we have a raised hearth (as you can see in the pictures)

2) the wires for the TV run through the wall, but I haven't found a good idea for placing the TV boxes anywhere that looks appealing. We don't have enough room to build in build in cabinets and have a media shelf, so currently they are sitting on the bottom of that tiny table with the crap on top of it.... Idea on how to make this more appealing? Maybe loosing the table or something? Im open to any and all suggestions.

3) Should I get a curtain to cover the window by the corner shelf? Is the corner shelf to busy? Does it need a different kind of setup? I'd want tp also put the same matching curtain on the sliding doors but should i loose the verticle blinds on the doors If i but curtains on the window?

PS ignore the baseball bat and the dog bowl.

Where did you hide the dog toys? My dogs insist their ratty toys belong front and center at all times.

For a price you can find pull down TV mounts. Look into that and put a bench/chest under the window for your TV boxes. The corner ladder looks a bit off to me and if you put up curtains it would be in the way.

I'm no longer a fan of blinds, vertical or Venetian as I like to take window coverings down and wash them. I'd put up curtain rods 6-10" longer on either side of both the door and window and buy 3x the width in your choice of panels. I suspect one pair for the window and 2-3 pair for the slider would be about right. Grommet tops are super easy to deal with, rings and pleated panels a bit more traditional looking.

Is that a real wood burning fireplace or gas? There are actually code requirements for proper mantle heights that are based on the depth of the mantle as to how high it must be.

If you have a gas FP you can remove the raised hearth and lower everything but it will be a big project.

Your other options are to buy a fireplace TV mount where you can pull the TV way down to watch it, or perhaps the TV can go on the wall where the sofa is and move the sofa to the middle of the room opposite of the coffee table?

There are code regulations that control distances for flammable (wood mantels) so if you want to change your mantel consult with local inspectors and they can help you understand the restrictions. Where I am, there has to be 18" above any flammable material above the firebox. Also has to have non-flammable material 6" around outer edge of firebox. Looking at your photos I don't think you have much to gain by changing what you have. For your components, purchase low cabinet to place under window to right of fireplace. Remove vertical blinds and replace with drapery that pull as far away from door opening as possible. Put a Roman shade that fits inside window edges in a wood slate type shade to coordinate with fireplace surround wood. If your dog is a puppy I would wait on drapery since puppies sometimes like to shall we say "play" with them and might cause damage. Good luck!

Oh. Remove corner ladder piece. Doesn't work there. Find another corner if you can.

Is there a wall across the room facing the TV? If so, they make a component that plugs into the TV that will allow you to move your media boxes to another location and still control them by remote. Is the TV on a moveable mounting bracket, so it can be adjusted to fit your viewing from different areas of the room? I would suggest matching drapes on both the window and sliding door. A traverse rod is great with a sliding door application.

I would leave the fireplace alone and try a different room arrangement. Put a low console under the window with the tv on top of it. Use a top down shade for the window so you get light above the tv. Then turn your sofa to face the fireplace and tv.

Attached are more pictures of the other side of the room, and our small media boxes that we need to hide. Also replied to everyone below

Kathy: Dogs toys are off to the side in a bin, don't want a pull-down TV mount, suggestions on curtains that would look neutral with the color of the fire place?

Archi: Thanks, but we want the TV above the fireplace.

Lisa G: It is real wood burning fireplace, and we live in NJ, but the wood above the stone is approx 1 - 1.5 feet in height, couldn't I just lower the actual mantle piece by 6-7 inches?

Flo: Any recommendations on a low cabinet?
It is real wood burning fireplace, and we live in NJ, and this is the original builder's fireplace. Any recommendations on the shade? We hate our green carpet but it has to stay due to our dog conditions. She is no longer a puppy lol.

Lisa R: there is no other spots for our media boxes and TV. I like the idea of curtains though!

Calidesign: We want to keep the TV where it is, and we want a better way to hide/place our media boxes, they are SUPER small.

You have to shop around with your exact measurements, but there are a lot of low media/cabinets out there. Just shop around. Measure, measure, measure!! Width of space, taking shoe moldings and other protrusions into account, height limitations (window) and depth allowances. You might find a "toy chest" that could contain items as well. Just use your imagination.
