I just recently added a garage door to my carport

Lights are always nice, and also practical. But I would recommend landscaping. Not just across the front foundation, but a tree or trees in the front yard.

Consider pachysandra for the sloping yard. Shrubs, cherry laurel for under the single window nest to garage and under the four windows to tee right of the front door.

I think your house is very nice. Everything seems to be in good condition. If you want some color, you could paint the entry door. The biggest improvement would be landscaping. That would do wonders. Bring in some nice vibrant greens and some colorful flowers. Then maybe an entry light. It doesn't look like you have room on the left of the garage for lights.

What zone are you in? You could do some kind of rock garden on that
slope. But to dress up for the holidays not knowing what area you live
in (snow, no snow) I would definitely paint the door a nice bright color
or even a magenta. Put a beautiful wreath on it for the holiday. Even
at a kick plate. Once you settle on a door color consider painting the
posts and railings a complimentary color. I also think black posts and railings would make you place look classy. Consider painting the windows too.

I agree with all the landscaping ideas. I think you could benefit from painting the siding and garage door a color from the brick, right now the house is cut in half. and yes a fun color for the front door

You need a landscape design with a terrace garden. There is no way to mow that slope without considerable danger to those doing it & by installing a proper terrace you will have more flat garden space to enjoy. I also think the brick needs to be power washed.

Here is the hardiness zone link. There is no land mass in the US that has that range of hardiness zones. 8a-14f. That would mean you live on a land mass that extends between Miami and the equator and you have deciduous trees in your photo which is unlikely in that part of the world.

In serious need of landscaping, which I'm assuming will have to wait until spring (maybe with the exception of planting a large tree). Paint the front door a color so it stands out. Do away with the "B" on it and remove what ever is hanging on porch in vision of door. Sidewalk looks a bit shabby, may consider replacing that eventually.

Actually, in most hardiness zones NOW IS THE TIME TO PLANT. This is the best time of the year to install landscaping because plants are dormant above the ground, but roots are growing below the ground. Thus, roots have time to establish before the heat sets in and plant stress occurs. Next, this is also the down time for most landscaping companies and they often offer discounts if you install now. I am a Master Gardener and the only timeI install landscape is between November and February (trees, bushes, perennials).

holidays; paint the front door, add a wreath and install some lighting
fixtures.

Longer term, with
the help of a professional landscaper, level the slope in front of the porch to
create a flat area. As a safety precaution, install a fence to the right where
the ground slopes away. There's a few options with the slope; leave it as lawn,
terrace it, or cover the entire slope with low-maintenance ground cover plants.

A planting bed is
a beautiful feature, perfect for the flat area in front. Prepare the bed by
removing the grass and adding plenty of organic soil, fertilizer and water. Place
lawn edging around the edge of the bed. This prevents grass growing into the
bed and keeps soil and mulch in place.

Fill the flower
bed with a mix of shrubs, perennial plants and ground cover plants. A small
tree is another option. Choose plants that are native (indigenous) to your
state and thrive in zone 8. Native plants are more robust and tolerant of
climate extremes. They also provide habitat for butterflies. Here's a link to
give you a few ideas, there's plenty of info online.

Repave the
driveway and path with an attractive paver. Place some colorful ceramic pots filled
with flowers by the porch and add an attractive 'welcome' sign.

Also, for the holidays, you might put a planter on either side of the sidewalk where it meets the house/steps -- you could put a little artificial Xmas tree or a small juniper topiary or even just a couple of big bows (or turkeys, or whatever) to give the place some cheer until you can get plantings in. Also, a garland and/or lights along the top of your railing would be great.

The advice of a qualified landscape designer would be a wonderful investment. The house is in great condition and is truly a blank canvas. Landscaping a sloped yard can seem difficult but there are some great options that, in the end, can be really amazing. I would recommend something raised on the right side of the house under the two windows to disguise the large wall of brick. You could elevate a tree with some plantings within a box or raised structure and continue the terracing up the hillside. Shudders might be a nice addition as well as an updated railing on the front porch.
