If its a hollow core door, it probably is not that heavy [50lbs] but I doubt you have enough wood to mount the hard ware. Some reinforcing might be required. It would seem like you could do this, you might have to make some creative adjustments

i've done a few sliding doors. btw, order the hardware off of Ebay. way better prices and choices.

The first pic is my second set of sliders we did. I Found these solid doors on Craigslist and painted them and added the glass. The track was from eBay. This style may suit your door better because it's mounted on the top of the door, where it's thicker. The 2nd pic shows the other door I did (door also found on Craigslist! lots of doors for sale on there!) This is the front mounted hardware. Both of these tracks and hardware I paid $70 each.

Did you ever end up using the hollow door? I am wondering if I can use the Lowe’s Masonite hollow two panel. I called two Lowe’s locations. One said they wouldn’t use it for barn door. The other said they only have maybe 1” solid wood on top. I am wondering if you can add solid wood on top and attach it to that.

Then you have solid wood attached to 1" of pressboard/hardboard. I would not use that for a barn door application.
